About Aurora

CTF-Aurora is a summer project that I did in the Unreal Tournament 3 Level Editor. It is a Capture-the-Flag level with a twist. Each team starts with their opposing team's flag and must push their way through their enemy in order to capture their flag.

Aurora also features a series of doors controlled by a tall platform. The last team to touch the platform controls the doors, opening shortcuts to allow that team faster access to capturing their flag and blocking off their opponent's shortcut.

The aesthetic style I was trying to achieve for this level was a mix between science lab and botanical garden, a mix of nature and machine. Large mechanical doors and drains irrigate water while giant wild plants grow under mechanical light.

Check out the screenshots below!

The vortex is deadly to enter, as well as touching the electricity eminating from it. Yikes! The platform controlling the doors stands at the center of the two main hallways.

Red base. Blue base.

The central room that crosses each team's shortcut paths houses a very large tree. These doors in the hallways open up to reveal a shortcut to capturing the opponent's flag.

The scripting used to determine which team has control of the platform, which doors shoudl open/close, and how the lights should change accordingly.
